HOAG HEALTH NETWORK | Empowered by Philanthropy

Since 1952, Hoag has carried out its mission to serve the community by providing health care of the highest quality. Today, Hoag is expanding at a rapid pace, growing from one community hospital to a regional health system that includes two hospitals, 15 urgent cares, and 10 health and wellness centers and a network of more than 1,700 physicians, 100 allied health members, 8,000 employees and 2,000 volunteers. Our community has made Hoag what it is today— a thriving health care system that heals and saves hundreds of thousands of patients every year.

As a private, not-for-profit organization that depends on philanthropy received through the Hoag Hospital Foundation, none of Hoag’s work in support of advancing health care would be possible without the generosity of our donors. Under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors, the Hoag Hospital Foundation raises more than $100 million in new gifts and pledges each year.

From the Hoag family’s 1950 gift that helped build our first hospital, to the incredible success of the Hoag Promise Campaign, which ended in 2020 raising more than $760 million, generations of individuals, families, and organizations have invested in building Hoag into what it needs to be for the people of Orange County and beyond.

“At Hoag, philanthropy is the engine that powers transformation. Each gift plays a critical role in both keeping our community healthy and shaping the future of health care. In the coming years, our community’s support for Hoag’s expansion will distinguish and differentiate us once again—in the ways that matter most to our community and make us a nationwide destination for care,” Robert T. Braithwaite, President & CEO, Hoag.

The Hoag Family Foundation provided the leadership funds to build the original Hoag Hospital in 1952 and community support of Hoag has made an impact on every subsequent improvement, expansion, and acquisition.
