MED SURG CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY CNA/PCA - CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY

Salary Range: $18.8800 - $29.0200 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

Part-Time 3rd Shift

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of a licensed registered nurse, the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) assists in direct patient care by providing for activities of daily living (ADL), comfort, nutrition, and hygiene needs for the adult and geriatric patient. The Patient Care Assistant takes and records clinical measures, collects specimens, provides transportation, maintains equipment and supplies, and may assist in preparing charts. The PCA immediately informs RN of any changes in patient condition and reinforces patient teaching as part of providing a safe patient centered care environment.

In the coordinating role, processes and monitors electronic orders for STAT, asap orders, verified orders and provides follow-up as needed. Maintains and updates pertinent patient information in computer systems. Answers all phone calls and greets visitors. Completes the Census sheet each night at midnight. Manages call lights. Is an EPIC resource to the department.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent (employees hired prior to 2011 without a HS diploma are grandfathered into their position).
• Completion of a Nursing Assistant program.
• Conversant in English and experience with computerized charting required.
• Recent employment as a Nursing Assistant preferred.

License Preferred

• RN License preferred

Certifications Required

• Current certification as a Nursing Assistant/CNA from the State of California. 
• CNA Certification, must meet all requirements for certification renewal including obtaining 48 hours CEUs every two years and obtaining a minimum of 12 of those CEUs in each year of the certification period.
• BLS
