As the Director of Operations at the Allen Diabetes Center, you’ll work alongside administrative and physician leadership to further develop the Allen Diabetes Center into a comprehensive, specialized services institute.  Being a Hoag Director of Operations at the Allen Diabetes Center means supporting administrative functions of both the Newport Beach and Irvine offices, which consist of research, education, and clinical practice.

Inside the Mary and Dick Allen Diabetes Center

The Mary and Dick Allen Diabetes Center provides comprehensive services for both adults and children with diabetes and offers clinical, educational and support services designed to meet the needs of patients with diabetes and their families.

Specialty programs include medical nutrition therapy, ADA accredited diabetes self-management education, Herbert Family Program for young adults with type 1 diabetes, and “Sweet Success” for pregnant women with diabetes.

As Director of Operations, your mission will be supporting the process of developing a challenging and realistic programmatic vision and goals that support the strategic direction of the Center.  You’ll be responsible for the administrative oversight of the Diabetes Programs and the development of new community programs relevant to the mission of the Allen Diabetes Center.

Other duties may include:

  • Assuming responsibility for operational elements of the Center including staff management and coordination of fiscal components, strategic planning, developing policies and procedures, and implementing management and evaluation.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of patient education curriculum.
  • Organizing seminars and educational presentations.
  • Collecting, aggregating, and presenting demographic and operational data.
  • Managing clinical operations in consultation with the Medical Director.
  • Maintaining accurate accounting of services provided; evaluate program participation rates, and make changes as necessary.
  • Managing program(s) budget and administration.
  • Supporting the work of the Hoag Hospital Foundation by attending relevant donor meetings and assisting with tours and special events for the center at designated times throughout the year.
  • Collaborating closely with the leadership teams of the specialized services institutes to facilitate development of programs.
  • Advancing research programs at the center and developing teaching opportunities, in conjunction with the Hoag Center for research and education.

To that end, we’ll expect you to participate in our continuous quality improvement process and maintain a working knowledge of departmental and hospital standards, policies and procedures.
