OFFICER DEVELOPMENT - HOAG FAMILY CANCER INSTITUTE - FOUNDATION

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Development Officer is primarily responsible for identification, qualification, cultivation and solicitation of major gifts ($100K+) to benefit Hoag and our Hoag Family Cancer Institute Using multiple sources including research, volunteer-referrals, annual giving data, physician referrals and existing donor database, the Development Officer will focus on pipeline development of major gift prospects

 

Officers will review and research prospect lists with a focus on qualifying in new donors to Hoag. Each month, Officers will conduct 15-20 face-to-face visits with prospects and donors, leading to solicitations.  Officers will maintain a major gift prospect portfolio of approximately 75 to 100 prospects/donors.  Working collaboratively with colleagues, the Development Officer will play a leadership role in identifying, qualifying and cultivating new major gift prospects.  Through a strategy based on high phone call volume, internal collaboration and strategic moves management design, Officer will pursue key performance metrics including qualification, meaningful contacts, solicitations and collaborative visits.

 

Through relationship building and visits with potential prospects, Officer will determine interest areas within Hoag and collaborate with Foundation colleagues to develop and implement cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.   The ideal candidates are nimble, creative, and collaborative and will pursue an integrated approach to their portfolio. Officer will also be responsible for understanding the core fundraising opportunities across all Institutes and key areas within the hospital and will be able to effectively partner with colleagues to achieve the objectives of Hoag Hospital Foundation.

 

In addition, the Development Officer will serve as a Foundation liaison to Hoag and Hoag Family Cancer Institute staff, community volunteers, medical leadership and clinicians associated with assigned Hoag fundraising initiatives and clinical institutes. Development Officer will understand Hoag Family Cancer Institute structure, programs and services developing the ability to share stories and communicate advances in cancer care at Hoag. 

 

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Nursing or Business Required. 3-5 years of professional fundraising, marketing, customer service, sales or related industry experience. This position requires a high level of professionalism, maturity, and a keen understanding of philanthropy and philanthropic practices.  Also, of high importance is the ability to work well with people of wealth and means (donors, volunteers, etc.).  The candidate must be experienced in major donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and fulfillment.
