Salary Range: $37.3800 - $57.4600 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Occupational Therapy addresses the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory-perceptual, and other aspects of performance in a variety of contexts and environments to support engagement in occupations that affect physical and mental health, well-being and quality of life.

 

The Occupational Therapy Assistant II performs Occupational Therapy procedures and related tasks. This role works under the direction of an Occupational Therapist for all clinical information. Reviews all evaluations, notes, referrals, and medical record before treatment and contacts Occupational Therapist regarding any change in status or proposed treatment plan. Provides interventions and progresses treatment as part of the established Occupational Therapy plan of care. Gathers data through valid and reliable objective testing and seeks feedback from patient and family. Provides education to patient, family and/or caregiver regarding daily activities, equipment, and home exercise. Communicates with physicians and other health care team members as scope, licensure and regulation allow. Oversees the clinical work of the rehabilitation aide. Provides services and required documentation timely and in accordance with professional and regulatory standards. Manages multiple patients at the same time and provides care in multiple clinical settings and locations. Participates in outside continuing education and incorporates information into practice. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Additionally, the Occupational Therapy Assistant II assists with educating and orienting new staff, acts as fieldwork educator for students and interns, and participates as instructor in an established class or program. Participates in educational events within the clinic and community. Seeks out advanced clinical information and attends clinical education coursework which meets the California Board of Occupational Therapy guidelines and provides in-services to staff.

 

Education and Experience

Eighteen months’ experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in an acute healthcare system environment required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Previous experience with Microsoft Office and healthcare database systems preferred. Bilingual or multilingual preferred. Experience with a range of diagnoses including general medicine, orthopedics, neurology, and cardiopulmonary. Completes mandatory stroke specific requirements for certification.

 

Additionally, specific department qualifications are as follows:

 

Acute Rehabilitation Unit: Demonstrates competency in Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Quality Reporting Program (IRF QRP). May require travel to patient’s home for home evaluation.

 

License Required

Current licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the State of California. 

 

Certifications Required

Current BLS Certification
