The Hoag Experience Analytics Lead will define, develop and implement work related to data sourcing, availability, usage and application, to promote the availability and quality of analytical information.  Leveraging mixed sources, the lead will analyze and condense complex information and data, to uncover insights and summarize findings into compelling visualizations and story-telling. This person will be able to effectively communicate findings to all levels of organization in order to support strategic decision making into actionable ways of transforming care and organizational effectivness.


Essential Functions



  • Apply and maintain knowledge of evidence-based and current developments of surveys, human behavior, data, and/or related metrics to ensure metrics are meaningful and appropriate. Fields may include of organizational psychology, behavior science, data research, performance and experience metrics.


  • Apply and maintain knowledge of evidence-based surveys including applied statistics, survey design & methodologies, and response effects on survey outcomes.


  • Researches and evaluates emerging trends, technologies, and industry best practices to identify opportunities for continuous improvement of reporting and analysis.


Survey and Data Analytics


  • Lead the development, implementation, coordination and maintenance of the Hoag Experience data, with a focus on the establishment of standards for, and work processes to achieve, levels of accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness and availability for key data elements and organizational indicators.


  • Works with internal and external clients to improve and automate information capture processes and ensure program needs are met and comply with confidentially and governing body requirements.


  • Leads the development of statistical models, forecasts, segmentation schemes, predictive models and/or other data-driven analyses using multiple quantitative sources (i.e. experience surveys, to financial, clinical and/or operations data).



  • Works with cross-functional analysts to convert information into business narratives for relevant business areas & leadership.

  • Defines, designs and develops business intelligence concepts and strategies to provide comprehensive analysis of data, reports, dashboards and scorecards.


  • Leads the strategizing and architecting of Master Data Management and metadata implementations



  • Designs, develops and implements educational tools to expand the effective use of analytical information across the organization.


  • Provides expert level consulting with leadership to understand, align, recommend and develop analytics strategies and work that supports business objectives and priorities.


  • Leads the development of innovative analytical tools, visualization, and presentations that simplify and story-tell the decisions and behavioral insights and translate those insights to influence decision making and promote experience improvements. 


  • Consults with department directors and managers to educate and review survey performance metrics and self-service analytical tools.


  • Concurrently leads multiple projects and manages flow of requests to allocate work among team member to meet customer needs.


Education, Training and Experience



  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field emphasizing people research in organizational, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Data Science, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field OR equivalent experience with strong understanding of applied I/O Psychology, behavioral economics or other social science field. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  •  Minimum of 2-4 years working with DW / BI / analytic tools



  • Master’s Degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Data Science, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field or equivalent experience. Experience with analytics and/or visualization tools.
  • Experience working in an acute care hospital setting.


Skills or Other Qualifications



  • Knowledgeable in field emphasizing people research in organizations.
  • Exceptional quantitative, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to develop solutions to problems independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with large data sets, managing and analyzing structured and unstructured data
  • Strong Skills in Statistical Analysis and Data Visualization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; consulting focused approach; excellent attention to detail; able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple priorities with changing circumstances while meeting deadlines; strong interpersonal skills; able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task multiple projects and understanding of project management and ability to multi-task and ensure accuracy despite interruptions.
  • Able to cultivate strong working relationships with business executives, teams, physicians.
  • Able to be self-directed and work with minimal supervision.



  • Strong skills in survey design
  • Strong skills in SQL, Python, MS Office, Qlikveiw, Database architecture & data warehousing technique.
  • Familiarity with healthcare systems and processes.
  • Understanding of key financial and operational performance metrics, benchmarks, targets, and calculations.
