Salary Range: $32.6300 - $53.8600 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

 

The Manager of Special Events is primarily responsible for supporting the Hoag Hospital Foundation events, deepening the Foundation’s relationship with donors, and inspiring philanthropic support.  

Primary responsibilities include creating meaningful and impactful events, managing event logistics and production, using creative thinking to enhance guest experiences and tracking event success. The Manager will collaborate with donor relations team, development team, and leadership to ensure continuity with the Foundation’s goals. This position reports to the Director of Special Events.  

  • Manage the planning and execution of special events, aligning them with Hoag Hospital Foundation’s objectives and supporting goals, such as new donor acquisition, retention, stewardship, and overall engagement.  
  • Develop pre, during, and post-event coordination, including preparing event scenarios, timelines, briefings, day of event production, reporting, and debriefings.  
  • Utilize creative thinking to enhance event experiencing by envisioning the entire guest journey and identifying opportunities to elevate their experience from start to finish.  
  • Strengthen effective working relationships with internal and external team and vendors.  
  • Ensure accurate tracking of all projects, their status, associated deadlines, and budgets. 
  • Negotiate with vendors to secure favorable rates that best steward resources.  
  • Maintain consistent, high-quality adherence to brand standards across all events.  
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, organizational and relational skills.  

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree. Significant work experience can substitute for the degree.  
  • At least 3 years of experience in event planning or project management.
