Salary Range: $57.0900 - $94.1800 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

 

The Senior Director Business Intelligence and Analytics is a leader who provides strategic, data driven insights to support decision making throughout the organization. The Senior Director has responsibility for the planning and implementation of the architecture and services that deliver these insights. This role also has responsibility for transforming data into actionable intelligence to elevate Hoag Hospital Foundation’s philanthropy efforts.

The Senior Director oversees the Director of Development Analytics and Manager of Business Intelligence as well as the technical resources of the following functional areas: Data Preparation (including sourcing, acquisition, integration), Data Warehousing (including atomic level data and groomed data layers), Data Governance (including quality, completeness, lineage, metadata, master data management and business glossary), Reporting (across all data sources and delivery methods), Business Intelligence (including dashboards and other visualization and analytic tools), and ‘Big Data’ development (including technology stack implementation).

 

  • Technical Expertise: Develop and maintain data structures within the Foundation data warehouse to meet functional requirements and optimize performance utilizing native languages and/or ETL tools, and data extracts from operational systems or approved data sources. Utilize advanced tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Salesforce, SQL, and Python to manage and analyze large data sets, ensuring comprehensive reporting and insights.
  • Strategic Insights: Provides actionable insights derived from sophisticated data analysis to inform strategic planning, resource allocation, and high-level decision-making.
  • Salesforce Integration: Lead efforts to optimize the use of Salesforce for data management, reporting, and automation. Partner with Senior Director of Technology to implement Salesforce-based solutions to streamline reporting processes, enhance data accessibility, and automate routine data tasks.
  • Automated Reporting: Develop and maintain automated reporting systems using Salesforce and other tools, creating dashboards and visualizations that deliver real-time insights to leadership, supporting informed, agile decision-making.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with internal leadership to translate data into effective fundraising strategies, with a focus on donor acquisition, engagement, stewardship, and retention.
  • Campaign Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives by analyzing performance data, with a focus on continuous improvement and strategic adjustments.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Collaborate with data operations teams to establish and maintain robust data quality standards, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and security of data across the organization. 

 

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Intelligence/Analytics, Computer Science/Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of combined experience in data warehouse development and management, data governance, data modeling and analytical tools, and business intelligence practices.
  • Candidate must possess a superior level of skill in programming needed to develop organizational reporting solutions, MS SQL, PowerBI, and statistical modeling tools.
  • Strong preference for experience managing Salesforce data.
  • Strong preference for data warehousing experience within a foundation/fund-raising setting utilizing donor data and CRM/Advancement applications.
  • Must be able to work independently and make effective decisions in complex business settings that require the need to assess numerous shifting and competing priorities.
  • Requires excellent organization and analytical skills, as well as strong attention to detail necessary to effectively respond to requests for technical assistance while maintaining the integrity of the overall data and reporting infrastructure.
