Job Summary:


Oversee the project work related maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and performance of the building and energy management system. Provide guidance on how the system can be upgraded, programmed and reported to provide energy savings, and actively participate in all phases of the software development life cycle. Responsible for the maintenance of multiple information and communications systems and projects, including Wonderware, ASI, Metasys, Modbus, Modicon, and Bacnet integration. Develop and implement user-training programs for building and energy management systems. Evaluate and implement system security and back-up procedures. Lead a work-group designed to improve in-house knowledge of these systems. May be required to pick up shifts outside of their standard assignment for coverage due to vacations, holidays, staff shortages, or other special circumstances as determined by leadership.


Essential Functions:


  • Oversee all maintenance, repairs and upgrades performed on the Energy Management system.
  • Monitor performance of the system and provide ways to improve it.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge in operation and troubleshooting of all energy management system related equipment.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance of the system.
  • Responsible for the training of all user groups.
  • Work directly with Manager of Utilities and Operations to develop reporting, energy conservation projects and upgrades to the system.
  • Prepare and Maintain reports for facilities management for energy consumption and monitoring.
  • Work as a team player with other staff to accomplish optimum facility maintenance.
  • Participate in meetings outside of normal business hours including occasional evenings and/or weekends, as needed.
  • Available to the engineering and management staff, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education, Training and Experience Required + Preferred


  • Required: Minimum of five years experience with increasing responsibility for management and support of building management systems.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field. Experience with digital, pneumatic, and electrical controls in addition to Andover energy management system program preferred.


Skills or Other Qualifications Required:


  • Effective communication skills, presentation skills, interpersonal skills, organizational ability, knowledge of proper body mechanics, safety measures and infection control, ability to follow instructions, and excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of various office productivity software programs such as word processing, databases, spreadsheet programs and communications software.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues within computer systems.
  • Self-motivated, independent, cooperative, flexible and creative.
  • Must be able to interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to collect data, interpret findings and implement improvements effectively.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with IT, Engineering, Planning, Construction, etc.
  • Ability to establish and support long-term goals including energy conservation measures.


Skills or Other Qualifications Preferred:


  • Knowledge of section-specific test information and instrumentation may be required.
  • Familiarity with desktop, notebook, handheld, and server computer hardware, local and wide area network design, implementation and operation and operating systems such as Windows, Server 2008, Unix and Linux.
  • Knowledge of Energy Management systems and PLC programming.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues within computer systems.
