Job Description:

As a key member of the Executive Team, the Executive Director Ambulatory Services & Strategy is responsible for leading ambulatory musculoskeletal strategy and business development in support of HOI’s mission and vision and in accordance with the strategic plan.  The Executive Director has high visibility and involvement at the enterprise level representing with responsibility for identifying and designing growth plans, new market opportunities and large-scale projects. This position has direct leadership and operational responsibility for HOI’s ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). Reporting directly to CEO for strategy and business develop, this position will closely collaborate with enterprise leadership, physicians and partner organizations. The Executive Director will also have a dotted line relationship to the COO for clinical and operational responsibility of ASCs. The Executive Director will have opportunity to represent HOI on committees of the Board and throughout the enterprise.

 

Essential Functions

 

Strategy and Business Development:

  • Informs and is able to execute on coordinated, integrated strategic plans developed by the executive leadership team and clinical operational lines as approved by the executive leadership team.
  • Business development activities to promote the strategic growth and financial viability of the enterprise.
  • Works together with HOI leaders and physician partners to develop a plan to identify and cultivate new business opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships & establish executive credibility with key stakeholders including physicians, medical group and partner organizations.

 

Operations and Financial Stewardship:

  • Responsible for operational performance of ASCs in alignment with enterprise quality, experience and financial goals.
  • Responsible for designing and implementing a common, consolidated ASC MSO platform to service enterprise ASCs and other services as applicable.
  • Achieves capital and operational budget targets and ensures effective management of expenses including FTE resources.
  • Responsible for NOI (Net Operating Income), assists in the development/management of operational and capital budget, as well as community public relations.

 

Physician Engagement & Experience:

  • Lends support in physician recruitment and creates an environment of high engagement.
  • Works locally with physicians to strategically and operationally move the organization forward.

 

Employee Experience:

  • Oversees recruitment and retention, manager development, as well as succession planning at ASC operations.

 

Patient Experience:

  • Ensures that patient satisfaction is high and patient care is extraordinary championing the HOI Signature Experience across the enterprise.

 

Compliance:

  • Supports all activities for compliance with federal, state, and other regulatory bodies including AAAHC, CDPH, OSHA, CMS and other department specific accrediting and certifying bodies.
  • Responsible to ensure contract compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and laws.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws.

Education, Training and Experience

 

Required: 

  • Previous experience working at a system level across multiple centers in a matrixed environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Health Administration, Nursing or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Three - five years of leadership experience managing outpatient surgery centers.
  • Previous experience running ambulatory surgery centers.
  • Experience in directing clinical areas, working closely with physicians, and implementing clinical strategies, operational efforts, and measuring outcomes.

 

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business, Health Administration or related field from an accredited institution.
