The Director of Outpatient Treatment, Chemotherapy Centers(RN) is an essential leadership position and has responsibility for the staff and services of the Outpatient Treatment Center areas for Hoag Hospital. The Director (RN) is accountable for the delivery of consistent, high quality patient care, promoting the development and satisfacation of the OPTC, providing operation efficiencies and insuring compliance with the department, the organization, regulatory polcies and standards of practice.

This position encompasses all aspects of patient-focused care given at the Outpatient Treatment Center as well as personnel management, development and fiscal responsibility. This individual develops collaborative relationships with each Physician.

Under the direction of the Executive Operations Director of Cancer and as a member of the Outpatient Treatment Center, the Director will work in collaboration with the Physicians and Organizational staff providing outpatient services at the Hoag Family Cancer Center. The Director is responsible for the daily oversight of the outpatient facility operations meeting all regulatory agency, compliance and clinical quality standards to provide efficient and safe patient care.

The Director of the Outpatient Treatment Center displays and practices a work-style reflecting the mission, vision and values of the Centers team, as well as the organization. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. The Director will also maintain a working knowledge of the deparmental standard operating procedures, including the use of specialized instrumentation, quality control requirements and preventive maintenance.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for providing an environment promoting high quality care and postive patient outcomes.
  • Responsible for implementing and evaluating approved policies, procedures and standards of practice necessary for the coordination and delivery of excellent patient focused care at the center areas; conducting compliance with department standards of practice, policy and procedures.
  • Holds staff accountable in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational center policies, procedures and standards of practice.
  • Performs direct oversight of all clinical operations - patient admissions, treatment center visit flow, patient follow-up, billing, insurance/payor issues, training, compliance, policy and procedure initiation, implementation and updating.
  • Responsible for the oversight and management of each of the treatment center areas operational budget.
  • Responsible for the hiring, managing, training, retention and development of the center/education of staff.
  • Actively participate on committees and initiatives as a Representative of the Treatment Center promoting their services throughout the organization and community at large.
  • Promote an environment sensitive to the culturally diverse needs of patients and organizational staff.
  • Clinical Care: Ensure that quality patient care is delivered to all patients on a 24-hour basis and the unit is maintained in accordance with professional and regulatory standards and the philosophy and goals of organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • 5 years of current management experience in an outpatient facility.
  • Chemotherapy certified.
  • BLS certified.

Education, Training and Experience Preferred:

  • Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN)
  • Oncology Certification Nurse
  • Bachelor's in Business
