Hoag, a leading, regional health care system in Orange County, is transforming the digital ecosystem within health care. Hoag’s philanthropic arm, Hoag Hospital Foundation (HHF), is part of this journey and is expanding its team to further deepen connections with Hoag donors and constituents through personalized, elevated digital experiences. The Director of Digital Analytics is a newly created role within the Hoag Hospital Foundation’s Development Operations team and will be responsible for helping to dramatically increase engagement, philanthropic giving and donor satisfaction through superior digital strategies and tools.


In this role, your analytical mind, innovative ideas and collaborative spirit will help HHF deliver highly personalized and meaningful digital experiences to our donors and constituents. You will lead the analysis of data and help to make strategic decisions based on your interpretation of results. Your strength in visualizing data, uncovering trends, connecting the dots, telling the story and making recommendations to stakeholders, colleagues and leaders will be highly valued and rewarding.


You will be both a thought-leader and implementor, responsible for helping to execute and evaluate multiple marketing, communication and fundraising campaigns, as well as tracking performance and providing insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders and leadership.


You will be hands-on with data, our donor database and our communication technology toolset. You will partner with colleagues across divisions, collaborate with other internal strategists and content creators from our communications, development and annual giving departments.


You will need to be tech-savvy, collaborative, forward-thinking, inquisitive, analytical and be able to glean relevant, actionable insights from multiple data sources and provide recommendations to increase the reach and effectiveness of our digital efforts.


The position will report to the Vice President, Development Operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with the Director, Digital Marketing and other stakeholders, create, execute and evaluate a growth strategy plan for the Foundation’s digital presence.
  • Maintain expertise in utilizing digital communication technology like Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar.
  • Prepare plans, including milestones, projections and data sources necessary to complete digital campaigns.
  • Provide recommendations for how to test and measure different strategies.
  • Define and execute quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy of data and results analysis.
  • Implement multiple digital campaigns simultaneously.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of each digital campaign and suggest recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage the compilation and dissemination of regular reports on performance of the various digital campaigns to leadership and peers.
  • Benchmark our results against relevant peer organizations.
  • Ensure we are leveraging the full potential of our data and digital communication toolset.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with internal and external partners and vendors.
  • Monitor competition and provide ideas to stand out and be ahead of others in the market.
  • Support partners across the organization with ad-hoc reporting and in-depth analysis.
  • Maintain an understanding of best practices within the field of digital marketing.


Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of work experience in digital and content marketing, preferrably in health care, higher-education or other non-profits.
  • Ability to bridge technical expertise with design-thinking donor experience to deliver efficient solutions
  • Knowledge of and passion for innovation and latest trends happening in the web, social and marketing space.
  • Creative with proven success in executing data-driven analytics that support digital communication campaigns.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to work with stakeholders across different functions and with colleagues at all levels
  • History of high performance and an internal strive for excellence in work produced
  • Strong thought leadership in the digital space
  • Exceptional skill in driving results against aggressive timelines, managing multiple priorities and executing flawlessly
  • Deep understanding of marketing channels – email, social and websites.
  • Technical knowledge of modern web platforms (inclusive of HTML and high-level comfort with Javascript frameworks, content management systems, etc.)
  • HTML and web publishing.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
