CLERK LEAD - RADIOLOGY ADMINISTRATION

Clerk I: The Clerk I is an entry-level position. Under the direction of the technical supervisor performs a variety of clerical duties in support of patient care activities of the department.

 

Clerk II: Includes all of the above and one year continuous radiology clerical experience or equivalent. Consistently maintains supplies in the clerical department adequately. Aids in the training of new staff.

 

Clerk III: Includes all of the above and two years continuous radiology clerical experience or equivalent. Supplies coverage for other clerical areas as needed. Able to troubleshoot and problem solve with occasional supervision. Trains all film library personnel.

 

Lead Clerk: Includes all of the above and three years continuous radiology clerical experience or equivalent. Coordinates daily activities of clerical personnel. Possesses a working knowledge of all clerical duties within the imaging center and provides coverage whenever necessary. Notifies clerical supervisor of problems that occur. Trains new staff within the imaging center and ensure proper documentation. Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. They must support the Radiology Department mission, maintaining a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education, Training, or Experience

Required:

High School diploma or equivalent. Working knowledge of basic medical terminology and filing preferred. Must be presentable in dress and grooming to patients, physicians and the general public. Speaks the English language fluently.

 

Skills or Other Qualifications

 

Required:

Clerk I: Working knowledge of basic medical terminology and anatomy. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of proper body mechanics and safety measures. Ability to follow instructions. Must be proficient in criteria described in attached evaluation form.

 

Clerk II: Includes all of the above and demonstrates competency, proficiency and aids in the training of film library staff. Must be proficient in the use of all equipment and hospital information system (Affinity), the radiology information system (SMS) and PACS. Must document all equipment malfunctions appropriately and notify supervisor.

 

Clerk III: Includes all of the above and demonstrates competency, proficiency in all film library responsibilities. Trains all film library personnel. Have working knowledge of front office registration and order entry. Troubleshoots equipment failures and notifies appropriate resources when necessary.

 

Lead Clerk: Includes all of the above and demonstrates competency, proficiency in all clerical functions within the imaging center. Able to make decisions independently in urgent situations. Acts as a resource to all clerical personnel. Troubleshoot and problem solves all equipment malfunctions.
