Internal Job Description Required. <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>Medical assistants take medical histories and record vital signs of patients. Medical assistants complete administrative and clinical tasks in the offices of physicians.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Essential Functions:&nbsp;</p> <p>1. Prepares for patient appointments by reviewing and updating patient records prior to appointment. This includes checking for updates of recent test results, lab results and correspondence. Also reviews patient record (EHR) to determine needed services and whether referrals are in process or have been completed since the last visit.</p> <p>2. Maintains exam rooms according to protocols: Cleans rooms between patient exams to ensure patients&#39; comfort and compliance with infection control standards; ensures all necessary supplies are stocked. Promptly reports when supplies are low and works with supervisor to ensure timely reordering is completed.</p> <p>3. Provides initial medical screening: Greets patients and directs to appropriate exam room. Takes weight, height, temp, blood pressure, and basic medical history; accurately documents in the medical chart according to generally accepted medical standards.</p> <p>4. Assists physician or nurse upon request during an examination of patient and according to generally accepted medical standards. Practices universal precautions with respect to established safety protocols. Facilitates communication between the provider(s) and patient as needed, including translation as appropriate. Administer medication under the doctor&rsquo;s direction.</p> <p>5. Accurately enter patient medical records, collect and prepare laboratory specimens or perform basic laboratory test on premises, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments. Accurately order laboratory test and prescriptions.</p> <p>6. Utilizes time in a constructive and efficient manner by assisting in such duties as restocking rooms/shelves/trays, checking supplies and ensuring that all areas, exam rooms are clean and orderly.</p> <p>7. Performs general clerical duties in support of patient services according to the needs of the clinic and as directed by Clinical Operations Director and supervisor. These include but are not limited to answering phones, photocopies, faxing, typing, completing forms, etc. Works with patient scheduling system to assist Patient Registration staff with the orderly and efficient patient flow.</p> <p>8. Ensures clinical areas are organized with respect of standards in safety and quality patient care. Works collaboratively with Clinical staff and other departments in solutions-oriented problem solving with the goal of providing quality patient care.</p> <p>9. Adheres to professional and legal standard for the scope of practice</p> <p>10. Understands and adheres to HIPAA regulations as outlined in the company handbook</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Job Qualifications:&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required</li> <li>Medical assistant certification</li> <li>2+ years of experience working for a healthcare practice</li> <li>Current, valid CPR certification</li> <li>Valid California Driver&rsquo;s License</li> <li>Proven working experience as a medical assistant</li> <li>Knowledge of medical office management system and procedures</li> <li>Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work</li> <li>Social perceptiveness and service oriented</li> <li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Strong organizational and planning skills</li> <li>Proficiency in MS office and EMR systems</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>*Must be willing to travel to multiple locations.</p>

Job Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical assistant certification
  • 2+ years of experience working for a healthcare practice
  • Current, valid CPR certification
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Proven working experience as a medical assistant
  • Knowledge of medical office management system and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Social perceptiveness and service oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Proficiency in MS office and EMR systems
