The Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic procedures, using knowledge, skills and abilities required for age of patient served, including routine, emergent, portable, surgical, and fluoroscopic examinations for Hoag Orthopedic Institute The Radiology Technologist displays and practices a work-style reflecting the mission, vision and values of the Hoag Orthopedic Institute. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures, including the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance.


Essential Functions:

Performs all general diagnostic Radiology procedures under the guidance and supervision of the Technical Supervisor, including routine radiography of extremities, , spine, abdomen, , chest, thorax, shoulder girdle, pelvic structures, , and routine fluoroscopic studies such as C-Arm , Fluorscan and Portable intraoperatively, pre-operatively, and post operatively. Retrieves films for surgeon viewing and removes x-rays from O.R. . Provides, removes and stores x-ray equipment Maintains cleaning of equipment after each patient use. Operates the Hana table under direct surgeon supervision and instruction during surgical procedures. As a member of the surgical team, assists with the turnover, cleaning of the operating room, opening of sterile supplies and positioning of patients. Clinical Care: Ensure patient care is delivered and the unit is maintained in accordance with professional regulatory standards. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate population as outlined in the job description and competencies. Performs other duties as assigned. 

Position may require participation in department on-call program. On-call employees provide services on-site as needed within one (1) hour of being called to respond.


Education, Training and Experience

Required:  Graduate of an AMA approved Radiology Technology program, California State CRT and fluoroscopy license, American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) license .Maintains required CEU’s per ARRT.


Skills or Other Qualifications

Required: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License. Excellent communication skills; customer focused; excellent attention to detail; able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; strong interpersonal skills; able to work in a team environment. Proven excellent customer service skills, including the ability to progressively probe, analyze, identify root causes of problems, provide practical solutions, and negotiate resolutions. Solid computer technical skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and additional Organizational systems (Affinity, SMS, and PACS). Ability to perform general diagnostic Radiology procedures under the supervision of the Technical Supervisor.

Preferred: Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidates. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus healthcare database systems.
