DIRECTOR NURSING - MED SURG

Salary Range: $73.2900 - $120.9300 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Nursing Director directs and oversees all aspects of patient care, operations and financial management on designated unit(s). This includes administrative, staff performance management, financial, quality management and patient care activities of nursing unit(s) on a twenty-four (24) hour basis. The role develops and modifies procedures and policies to run unit optimally. Ensures patient care is delivered and the unit is maintained in accordance with professional regulatory standards. Responsible for continual improvement of patient care and prevention of harm. Focusses on continually enhancing patient outcomes and improving care. Consults with Charge Nurses on staff performance, identifying education needs, and identifying patient and/or delivery problems and solutions. Identifies and provides necessary staff education and orientation.

 

Works in conjunction with the Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer to develop the vision, goals, and strategic initiatives for the Nursing Department and then executes those goals and initiatives.  Functions as a clinical expert, consultant, liaison, researcher, educator and leader. Utilizes the nursing process based on research and evidence-based outcomes. Drives innovation.  Exhibits a “can-do” attitude. Performs other duties as assigned.

The position requires meetings and rounding outside of normal business hours including evenings/nights and weekends.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors’ of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Masters’ of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.

 

License Required

  • Registered Nurse in the state of California - Current and in good standing.

 

Certifications Required

  • BLS certification.
  • Certain departments must complete mandatory stroke specific requirements for certification.
