Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS)- IRVINE CHEMISTRY

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Clinical Scientist performs a range of standard and/or technically demanding procedures and analyses on patient specimen in one or more clinical laboratory disciplines. This role recognizes critical or significant findings, reports test results, and maintains records of patient tests. Also, recognizes technical, instrumental, or physiological problems that could adversely affect test or results, resolves, and documents. Performs calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments. Adheres to quality control protocols to ensure accuracy of results. Monitors the accuracy and precision of all laboratory tests personally performed. Actively participates in continuing education programs. Communicates technical and general information to manager and medical staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology or related science; one to two years of experience

 

  • Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office Applications experience and Information systems with emphasis on Microsoft applications experience preferred

License Required

State of California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License; Or one of the following State of California Limited Clinical Laboratory Scientist License

  • Clinical Chemist Scientist License (work limited to Chemistry only)
  • Clinical Hematologist Scientist License (work limited to Hematology only)
  • Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist License (work limited to Blood Bank only)
  • Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License (work limited to Microbiology only)
  • Public Health Microbiologist Certification (work limited to Microbiology only)
