As a valuable member of the team at Hoag Medical Group (HMG), you’ll give direct outpatient nursing care as per the California Nurse Practice Act. Being an HMG Nurse Practitioner means serving our community by engaging in research and education, implementing innovative technologies, and using evidence-based best practices as a standard of care.

Our patients benefit from same-day appointments and extended hours, along with access to Hoag Urgent Care Centers and our highly skilled Care Management team.


In collaboration with the Executive Medical Director and Department Medical Directors, you will provide care for adult and senior patients in an outpatient setting, including follow-up in an in-patient setting when needed. You will be working collaboratively with physicians and medical staff to deliver medical support within the scope of your Practitioner License, that effectively addresses the needs of our patient community. This means providing primary care that emphasizes health promotion, education, coordination of care and emotional support to patients and families.

Other duties may include:

  • Planning, developing, implementing and evaluating department goals, objectives, new programs; services and strategic plans.
  • Evaluating our clinic’s practice development and training needs and expanding the scientific knowledge base for nursing and/or physicians.
  • Participating in nursing research, initiating literature reviews, and disseminating recent innovations and research findings relevant to our patients.
  • Arranging admission and transfers of patients.
  • Performing and dictating patient history and physicals.
  • Delivering patient care and documenting in the patient's record.
  • Furnishing medications (non-narcotic) and durable medical equipment.

To that end, we’ll expect you to participate in our continuous quality improvement process and maintain a working knowledge of departmental and hospital standards, policies and procedures.

  • Master of Science in Nursing graduate nurse practitioner program.
  • Evidence of satisfactory performance and completion of proctoring and other requirements desired by the medical staff office.
  • Experience in primary care physician office.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in good standing in the State of California.
  • Board certification in area of specialty by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or American Nursing Credential Center.
  • Current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Furnishing Certification and Drug Enforcement Administration License.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, organizational ability, and use of proper body mechanics.


  • Experience in adolescent, adult, and geriatric care.
  • Keyboard skills and knowledge of data collection software.
  • Critical Care Certification.
