MRI Technologist I:

The MRI technologist I is a registered professional with a minimum of 1 year experience. Under the direction of the technical supervisor and Radiologist performs all MRI procedures with minimal supervision. The technologist evaluates the scans for technical quality and makes corrections to optimize the procedures.


All MRI technologists must project an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. They must support the Radiology mission, maintain a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures and perform other duties as assigned. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process of the department.


Education, Training, or Experience


Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology program, California State CRT, American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and CPR.


Skills or Other Qualifications


MRI Technologist I:

Good interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of proper body mechanics, safety measures, and infection control. Ability to follow instructions. Demonstrate clinical proficiency specific to age of population served. Must be proficient in criteria described in attached evaluation form. Demonstrates competency and proficiency in the following procedures as determined by annual competency evaluation. Chest, Brain, ECV,ICV, Neck, Shoulder, Pelvis, Hips, Knee, and Spine MRI. Must be proficient in the use of all equipment and hospital registration system (Affinity), radiology information system (SMS) and PACS.
