SR PRINCIPAL PROVIDER NETWORK DEVELOPMENT - HOAG CLINIC

Job Summary: 

The Sr Principal, Provider Network Development will be accountable for the growth and overall performance of Hoag Physician Partners, which is Hoag Clinic’s Independent Physician Association.  This leader will leverage their deep knowledge of the Southern California managed care environment and their proven ability to collaborate with primary care provider practices to create a top-performing IPA in terms of quality, patient satisfaction and appropriate medical utilization.  The Sr Principal of Provider Network Development will be a creative, strategic thinker who can inspire physicians aligned to Hoag’s values to join in our efforts to provide the highest value care to the Orange County Community.

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Responsible for all aspects of network development and management and maintain overall accountability for the performance of Hoag Physician Partners IPA, including quality, patient satisfaction, growth and profitability.
  • Responsibilities include oversight of the operations, budget, and general management of the Hoag Physician Partners IPA
  • Support market expansion and M&A activities by leading provider business development, contract analysis and other activities related to due diligence
  • Provide leadership in evaluating opportunities to expand or change the network to meet Hoag’s goals
  • Oversee analysis of claim trend data and/or market information to derive conclusions to support contract negotiations.
  • Assists leadership in the development, coordination and implementation of budget, business plans and operational activities including clinician/ops review to drive clinical and financial performance
  • Maintain an overall measure of network performance and network adequacy
  • Monitor and report metrics such as resource utilization, patient satisfaction, HCC, PFP and STAR and  collaborate on plans to improve efficiencies and reduce expenses
  • Meets regularly with physicians to review market strategy, financial performance and key performance indicators.
  • Collaborates with the physician leadership in each of the independent primary care practices to garner support for operational initiatives and obtains feedback on what initiatives will be most successful and works closely to implement and monitor programs
  • Perform periodic analyses of the Primary Care and Specialist provider network to optimize quality, access and cost objectives.
  • Partners with the Hoag Clinic MSO Physician Services team to coordinate the delivery of perfect service to contracted physicians of the IPA and  develop new strategies and approaches for optimizing operations  supplied by the Hoag Clinic’s MSO.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Education, Training and Experience

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree in business/healthcare administration, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field
  • Seven (7) years of experience managing staff.
  • Five (5) years Healthcare Experience

 

Preferred:

 

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or Nursing preferred
  • Medical group or IPA operations management experience preferred
  • Experience in managed care organizations preferred

  • Superior verbal and written skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with the highest level of tact and diplomacy with all levels of personnel from Senior Leadership to frontline staff, including Board Members, Board Committee Members, Community Leaders, Legislators, City Council Members, Physicians, Volunteers and Employees.
  • Demonstrated success in managing performance and development of others (either directly or indirectly).
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate team meetings and deliver presentations.
  • Simultaneously, prioritize competing efforts and delegate duties.
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong customer relations focus and relationship building capabilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Visio.
  • Independent self-starter; work independently within established guidelines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to partner with the President to understand nuances, appropriate protocol and specific preferences of the executive, and execute on the level of support required/expected.
