PRIVACY PROGRAM MANAGER - CORPORATE COMPLIANCE

Salary Range: $48.1900 - $79.5400 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Program Manager Privacy performs a wide range of tasks to support the privacy activity and compliance for Hoag enterprise wide. Serves as a privacy expert. Assists in developing, operationalizing, and monitoring Hoag’s privacy program. Develops, improves, and deploys privacy training. Performs review of business associate/Hoag affiliations agreements. Assists in developing and implementing annual privacy compliance work plan and risk assessment activities. Manages data privacy rules and regulations requirement compliance. Performs audits to ensure privacy rule, regulation, and policy compliance. Works on special privacy projects and initiatives. May perform privacy breach investigations. Stays abreast of new privacy regulations and guidelines as well as privacy best practices. Acts as a resource to departments to provide privacy guidance on new initiatives or department inquiries.  Conducts privacy risk assessments for new Hoag facilities, partnerships, and service lines. Continuously develops and improves processes to monitor the quality and effectiveness of privacy practices. Recommends and implements changes to ensure privacy compliance. Develops, reviews and revises privacy and/or privacy investigations policies and procedures as necessary. Easily adjusts to change in responsibilities and projects. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal skills and ability to speak and write articulately, effectively, and factually. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Maintains current knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations and policies governing privacy such as, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH), the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act, the California Data Breach Notification Law, and other privacy laws or statutes as necessary to protect Hoag patient privacy and ensure compliance with privacy regulations. 

Possesses excellent judgment, attention to detail, time management and task prioritization skills, the ability to work collaboratively with multiple parties enterprise-wide, strong writing and verbal communications skills, and be able to analyze privacy situations and make decisions based on the analysis.

 

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree required, a Bachelors’ degree preferred, in healthcare management, health law, health information management, or other healthcare field. 
  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant healthcare compliance and/or privacy experience.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal privacy regulations, security regulations, release of information, and information release control technologies including CMIA, HIPAA and HITECH.

 

Certifications Required

  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)
  • Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) or other acceptable compliance or privacy related certification subject to approval by the Senior Principal, Corporate Compliance.
