Salary Range: $26.0400 - $40.2900 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

 

The Payment Poster & Research Specialist is responsible for the posting and reconciliation of all electronic and manual insurance payments and patient payments.  This position works directly with internal departments, external business partners (vendors, banks) and Accounting to timely and accurately post all payments and cash for Hoag Hospital Newport Beach, Hoag Hospital Irvine, Hoag Orthopedic Institute, Hoag Clinic and Hoag Urgent Care. This includes but is not limited to posting batches according to department guidelines, ensure AR reporting balances daily, and organizing daily posting logs. Researches posting errors, transfers funds correctly and documents, and contacts payors for additional documentation. Works with vendors on missing files or posting file errors, including unbalanced files. Meets quality assurance and productivity standards.

The Lead acts in the absence of the supervisor and is able to problem solve and make decisions. Assists the supervisor with the orientation and training of new employees. Coordinates/participates in the interview and selection process of new employees. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in billing or collections required.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and timely follow-up on posting and research.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel). Experience with Affinity, Chartmaxx, MedAssets, and/or Emdeon preferred.
