MANAGER PRIVACY INVESTIGATIONS - CORPORATE COMPLIANCE

Salary Range: $55.4300 - $91.4300 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Program Manager Privacy Investigations is the functional leader responsible for investigation oversight of any privacy matters at Hoag enterprise-wide. Manages and operationalizes the privacy investigation segment of Hoag’s privacy program. Serves as a privacy expert and works collaboratively across all Hoag entities. The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing and conducting privacy investigations. Responsible for ensuring privacy matters are investigated and reported to individuals and/or entities within the required timeframe. Maintains a log of all privacy incident activity. Regularly reports on privacy activity to the appropriate internal parties and provides recommendations to avoid breaches and increase privacy compliance. Creates and maintains a privacy investigation protocol. Trains and manages Corporate Compliance staff on how to conduct privacy investigations. Serves as liaison for contracted privacy management services third party on investigations. Continuously develops and improves processes to aid in privacy compliance. Recommends and implements changes to ensure privacy compliance. Creates and reviews privacy policies and procedures.

 

Maintains current knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations and policies governing privacy such as, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH), the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act, the California Data Breach Notification Law, and other privacy laws or statutes as necessary to protect Hoag patient privacy and ensure compliance with privacy regulations. 

Individual must possess excellent judgment, attention to detail, time management and task prioritization skills, the ability to work collaboratively with multiple parties enterprise-wide, strong writing and verbal communications skills, and be able to analyze privacy situations and make decisions based on the analysis.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree required, a Bachelors’ degree preferred in healthcare management, health law, health information management or other healthcare field.
  • Equivalent privacy, corporate compliance, health information management or cybersecurity work experience may be substituted for formal education.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant healthcare privacy experience.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal privacy regulations, security regulations, release of information, and information release control technologies including CMIA, HIPAA and HITECH.

 

Certifications Required

  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) or other acceptable compliance or privacy related certification subject to approval by the Sr. Principal, Corporate Compliance Services.
