MANAGER HOSPITAL BILLING (GOVERNMENT) - BUSINESS SERVICE-MANAGED CARE

Salary Range: $48.1900 - $79.5400 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

 

The Manager of Hospital Billing oversees all billing operations related to Medicare services, manages patient billing and Self Pay call center functions. This role ensures compliance with federal regulations, optimizes billing processes, and leads a team of billing specialists to achieve accurate and timely billing and collections. Responsibilities include:

 

  • Identifying and coordinating training for patient accounting and Managed Care staff.
  • Focusing on collections for Medicare, Workers' Compensation, group insurance, and private pay accounts.
  • Serving as a point of escalation for complaints and issues.
  • Using monthly statistical reports to track progress and trends in credit balances, aged accounts, and overall account status.
  • Standardizing and streamlining processes to improve revenue efficiency.
  • Supporting the business office and hospital mission.
  • Performing other duties as assigned

 

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Business or Hospital Administration or related field or equivalent years of experience in the field.
  • Experience with revenue cycle management in a hospital setting.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in hospital billing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with California collection law and insurance billing regulations required. 
  • Experience in Patient Financial Services.
  • In-depth knowledge of Medicare billing regulations and guidelines.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficiency in billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems, EPIC preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) certification.
  • Call Center Experience
