SR. EUC VDI ADMINISTRATOR  

Role: VIRTUAL DESKTOP ADM SR  

    

Primary Duties and Responsibilities  

The End-User-Computing –Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (EUC-VDI) Administrator and Engineer roles, provides advanced and innovative patient centric and business solutions to enhance Hoag’s virtual, physical, remote, cloud and mobile desktop environments. Performs adequate testing and planning to deliver with the highest standards of quality, and to secure high availability. Also, systems optimization, monitoring, and proactive maintenance. Keeps systems in compliance with security, entitlement, and performance requirements. Is committed to constant process improvement and to develop and maintain accurate and updated documentation and policies and procedures. Work in cross functional team efforts in complex issues resolution, project planning and implementations.  

Applies experience with VMware Hypervisor®, ControlUp, IGEL UEM, Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, and Windows virtual Technologies to support VDI implementations. Also to administrate large-scale (2000+ desktop sessions) VDI deployment using non-persistent desktops (floating pools), persistent desktops and virtual application delivery.  Defines the Windows® desktop image standards for virtual environments. In addition, leverage effectively and efficiently supporting tools and technologies, AD, Groups Policies, Thin Clients, etc., to support patching, anti-virus, profile management, user experience monitoring, performance improvements, packaging software, and encryption efforts. Also provides technical expertise to evaluate, install and maintain both, hardware and software (i.e., scanner / printer certifications, and Tap-to-Print solutions).  

Develops the necessary methodologies and processes needed to scale VDI for growth, peak use capacities, high availability, remote access services, and support the business roadmap for future use cases and expansion. Participates in activities to evaluate new desktop delivery technology and applications. Performs tasks associated with evaluation, design, installation, configuration, upgrades, testing, documentation, and expansion to support deploying new technologies and applications in a VDI environment.  

Participates in meetings outside of normal business hours including occasional evenings and/or weekends. Position is in a support department which operates a call center 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide support and service that may require travel. Operations include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts. Employees may be required to pick up shifts outside of their standard assignment for coverage due to deployments, vacations, holidays, staff shortages, or other special circumstances as determined by leadership. Follows system-wide server, workstation, networking and integration standards, policies, and procedures.  

 

Education and Experience  

High School diploma or equivalent work experience and 3+ years of related experience  

Experience providing Level II and III desktop engineering support in Windows, and remote management, also senior VDI Administrator level support, preferably in healthcare.  

Advanced experience with Xen Desktop, Citrix Cloud technology  

Advanced experience with, software and technologies including MS Windows 11, Chromium based browsers, IGEL os 

Automating tasks with Windows PowerShell, VBScript and SCCM  

Experience with SCCM, AD, Packaging, Disk Encryption, Patching, Endpoint Security, Device Management, Cloud management services, Microsoft 365, FSLogix, UMS, Citrix, Imprivata Unity all preferred.
