The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will be at the forefront of our institution's marketing strategies. Playing a critical role in promoting our healthcare services, managing our brand identity, and leading initiatives across public relations, growth marketing, retention marketing, sponsorships, and events. This position demands a leader with a profound understanding of brand and strategic marketing, capable of deploying innovative marketing strategies to engage our diverse audiences, including patients, healthcare professionals, and the community at large. They will be a visionary, high-energy marketing professional that can balance strategic thinking with overseeing flawless execution.
This role requires a seasoned marketing professional who works collaboratively with all levels and backgrounds and has significant experience creating, influencing, and developing brand storytelling, integrated marketing strategies, and performance-based lifecycle marketing from the beginning of an idea to execution and measurement.
In addition, the CMO is responsible for leading and driving the organization’s commercial strategy across all sales channels, from Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C), and for translating Hoag’s brand strategies and objectives into actionable plans that increase brand awareness, attracts, and retains patients, and engages the community with a positive and measurable return on investment.
This role also serves as Public Information Officer for the organization. Directs and manages the full-service marketing communications function to provide marketing direction, agency account management, media planning and buying, and creative art, video and photography services that assist the organization in meeting its strategic and marketing/sales objectives. The CMO represents the organization on chamber of commerce boards and local government committees; is a member of the organization’s Executive Leadership Team and shares the responsibility to drive growth while building a team of marketing experts for the organization.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing plan that aligns with our institution's goals, emphasizing patient engagement, market expansion, and brand loyalty.
Initiates and directs all marketing and communication programs for the organization including but not limited to strategic planning, demand generation, content marketing, messaging strategy, branding, channel marketing, digital marketing, marketing analytics, media relations, marketing communications, public affairs, community relations and employee communications.
Craft and manage a dynamic brand strategy that reflects our commitment to excellence in healthcare, research, and patient experience. Ensure brand consistency across all platforms and materials.
Lead public relations efforts to enhance the institution's public image, including managing media relations, developing press materials, and showcasing our achievements and advancements in healthcare.
Plays a key role for Hoag in promoting its national recognition as a state-of-the-art, patient centered, comprehensive service model for healthcare.
Design and implement data-driven marketing strategies aimed at increasing patient acquisition and promoting our healthcare services to new markets.
Develop initiatives focused on patient retention, advocacy, and satisfaction, utilizing personalized communication and feedback mechanisms to foster long-term relationships.
Identify and leverage sponsorship and event opportunities that align with our mission and values, such as health fairs, conferences, and community outreach programs. Oversee event planning and execution to ensure brand visibility and engagement.
Collaborate with medical departments, research teams, and administrative staff to ensure a unified approach to marketing and communication efforts.
Manage the marketing budget effectively, allocating resources to initiatives that deliver the highest impact, ROI, and brand reach.
Lead and mentor a marketing team dedicated to excellence, innovation, and impact. Create a supportive and collaborative environment that fosters professional growth and development.
Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
Extensive experience in a senior marketing role.
Deep understanding of the marketing industry and market trends.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate teams and build relationships across diverse groups.
Expertise in developing and executing marketing strategies, with a track record of driving growth and enhancing brand reputation.
Proficiency in data analytics and performance metrics to guide marketing decisions.
Experience managing large budgets and leading cross-functional projects.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in a relevant discipline preferred.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in the Healthcare Industry is a plus.
