Salary Range: $52.6100 - $80.8600 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The primary purpose of a clinical informaticist is to enable clinical decision making by health care professionals and to support and improve clinical care processes. This purpose is demonstrated though implementing systems that support clinical objectives and, when necessary, identifying changes needed in clinical processes to take full advantage of clinical information system capabilities. The CI Specialist resources are assigned to intricate and multifaceted clinical areas that require a high level of complex critical clinical thinking.

The CI Specialists analyze, design, implement and evaluate Health information and communication systems that enhance individual and population health outcomes, improve patient care, and strengthen the clinician-patient relationship.

The CI Specialists use their knowledge of patient care combined with an understanding of informatics concepts, methods, and tools to assess the information and knowledge needs of health care professionals and patients, characterize, evaluate, and refine clinical processes to align with best practices Will also develop, implement, and refine clinical decision support systems and lead in the continuous improvement of clinical information systems by participating in the development, procurement, customization, management, and evaluation of systems and processes.

Resolves incidents of difficult complexity or lower which can include clinical workflow development and implementation that is of high risk to a patient such as PCA pump and other complex IV med administration. Will also include clinical data analysis.

Education and Experience

  • High-School Diploma or equivalent
  • Clinical training and experience
  • 3-4 years direct clinical experience which can include 2 years direct pt care plus other clinical experience in Oncology.
  • 3+ years’ experience with information systems including use “at the bedside”.
  • Previous experience with the Hoag EHR system (such as Epic) including providing Certified Training and Workflow Optimization in Epic Beacon.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in implementation and support of a clinical system which may include providing department subject matter expertise and or end user support.
  • Preferred: BSN or equivalent Ancillary degree or other advanced preparation based on clinical specialty (such as doctorate in rehab medicine) and Clinical experience in Clinical Informatics area assigned
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft tools, including Word, Excel and Visio preferred.
  • Preferred: Epic Beacon Certified.

License Required

  • Current CA driver’s license required for local travel
  • California Clinical Licensure: RN, or CLS, or CMS, or DO, or LCSW, or MD, or OT, or PA, or PT, or RCP, or RD, RPH or RTR or ST
